Lessons from Last Night's Debate

Last night's presidential debate between Biden and Trump had an immature "I am better than you" energy that was impossible to ignore. It was a glaring reminder of how often we fall into the trap of comparison and division, and it saddened me to think about how this mindset pervades not only in politics but in our personal lives.

Unfortunately, we tend to measure ourselves against others in various aspects—our bodies, careers, relationships or personal achievements. This constant comparison perpetuates stress, unhealthy patterns and feelings of inadequacy.

The 'I am better than you' mentality highlighted in the debate reflects a broader societal issue of comparison and tearing others down, which detracts from progress, love, and unity. Imagine the impact if we each chose to live with integrity and authenticity, valuing our unique journeys and gifts. By emphasizing what we can give rather than how we measure up, we foster a more meaningful and enriched existence for ourselves and those around us.

I encourage you to identify one area of your life where you often compare yourself to others and make a conscious effort to shift your focus to appreciating your own progress and opportunities.

As we navigate our personal and professional lives, may we remember that true success lies in becoming the best version of ourselves and enriching the world with our love, unique gifts and kindness.
