Random Act of Kindness, Tulip Edition

As we approach one of the busiest holidays of the year for flower purchases, Mother’s Day, I wanted to share one of my favorite recent experiences involving tulips.

A friend and I picked some beautiful tulips from a friend's garden, and as we made our way home carrying our freshly picked, vibrant bouquets, people couldn’t help but comment on their beauty. My friend offered one to a stranger and before we knew it, we found ourselves giving away the flowers. The joy and gratitude on their faces from receiving one single tulip was truly priceless.

“Are you serious? For me?”

“What did I do to deserve this?”

“I can’t possibly take this.”

You would have thought we were giving them $100.

This spontaneous, random act of kindness reminded me of the immense power of simple, non-expensive, non-commercial gestures to brighten someone's day. If you have the power to make someone's day, do it. The world needs more love.

Wishing you a weekend filled with love, beauty and connection.
