Have You Ever Experienced the Splendor of Nature?

After a long, challenging week I took a walk this morning and came across a beautiful tree. The moment I laid eyes on it, something wonderful happened – my whole body relaxed, and I felt a profound sense of peace wash over me.

It made me reflect on Alan Devoe’s words on how to take a walk: "The world, after all, is not so unendurable when a person gets a chance to look at it and smell it and feel its texture and be alone with it. This acquaintance with the world—this renewal of the magical happiness and wonderment which you felt when you were a child—such is the purpose of taking walks.”

When I feel sad or depleted, I often go to nature for support, and always receive what I need and more. Nature has this incredible ability to shift our perspective. In its presence, we're reminded of the splendor of the world and the smallness of our worries. It's a gentle nudge to let go and simply be.

I’ll leave you with a question a therapist asked me many years ago that caught me off guard: “what is your relationship with nature like?”
