Age Is Just a Number

This week I celebrated another birthday and was asked the familiar question: "How old are you going to be?"

I realized that the number holds little significance compared to years past. It dawned on me that in our youth, age represents progress and growth, but it becomes a less relevant marker as we journey through life.

Similarly, our approach to measuring progress in health and fitness may start by fixating on tangible metrics—the number on a scale, the number of calories, the weight we can lift—believing them to be the key indicators of success on our journey towards self-improvement. Yet, with time we come to realize that true progress transcends numerical markers. They fail to capture the essence of our growth—mindset shifts, resilience, deep inner peace, and personal fulfillment.

As we evolve, we understand that progress is about more than just numbers; it's about respecting our bodies, honoring their signals and needs, knowing when to push and when to rest, and feeling healthy inside and out.

Consider the metrics you've relied on to measure progress in your own life. Are they truly reflective of your growth as a person? How might you redefine your measures of progress in this period of your unique journey?
