A Swedish Tradition for Better Sleep and Digestion

In Sweden, it's common to take a kvällspromenad (evening stroll) sometime after dinner. This simple tradition signals the body that it’s time to wind down, aids digestion, promotes relaxation, and prepares the body for sleep.

An amble around the neighborhood, accompanied by the sights and sounds of nature, provides an opportunity to unwind and let go of the day's stresses.

I love that the kvällspromenad serves as a cue for the body to transition into sleep mode. Engaging in this calming activity establishes a bedtime routine conducive to restful sleep. Rather than rushing through the evening or being absorbed in screens and technology, the kvällspromenad fosters a mindful transition into the night.

Reflecting on your own typical evening, consider how it makes you feel. Are you taking time to unwind and relax? If you feel like trying the kvällspromenad I would love to hear about your experience.
